Spring? It really is you!

I am so excited to see that snow going! It feels like spring really is here! Just want to say "Hello Spring - so glad you could come!" I don't know if you are like me, I think a lot of us are the same in that we get so excited for fall. Eager to snuggle up in those cozy wools and tweed trousers... warm hats... lux scarves and all the fuzzy comforting things that come with fall, then keep with us on into winter. Oh the pretty snow... so white and crisp. WELL... BE GONE!!!!! That pretty snow is all muddy and I am done. DONE! And oh so happy to see spring sneaking in! I have seen many white bunnies looking more and more brown - yipee! Green grass peeking out where the snow is vanishing. Customers are walking around with slushy cold drinks again - loving it!!! With spring I am always eager to get started on spring cleaning. It is appealing to want your home to look fresh and inviting. I even got the vehicle all clean and vacuumed. (cheer!)

What's next to do? SPRING CLEAN YOUR WARDROBE!

Let's get started together.

1. get yourself a nice cold glass of ice water ( throw in a lemon slice if you have one!)
2. put some good tunes on - shut off that email and cell phone! This is YOU TIME!
3. you will need some boxes or hampers to use temporarily (easier than piles but your choice)
4. designate your "boxes" donate - store (off season) - cleaners - tailor - keep
5. put on some well fitting foundation garments (that's your undies)
6. try EVERY piece on. Be honest with your self. Ask yourself WHY you have not worn it.
7. Ill fitting? Can the tailor fix this? Is it worth it to you? then put it in the tailor box. Sometimes an effective tweaking by a good tailor can truly change everything! Not your colour? Never was? That will not magically change ladies! Fabric itchy? again - that will not change. If has been over a year since that piece has seen the light of day - consider sending it on for someone else to love. I know as women our weight and shape can change with the seasons, and we all likely have pants in a couple different sizes and that is okay - BUT if you have enough different sizes your closet looks like a store you need to make some choices. If you are planning weight loss or find yourself post pregnancy I know it can be hard to let things go but you need to then make choices based on style and colour. When you did wear these pieces before, do you remember feeling amazing in them? Would you be happy to run into an old flame or girlfriend in that piece? Would it make a suitable first impression? If you hesitate on saying "yes" it's time to let it go. You'll be so cute when you reach your goal you won't wear it anyways! (trust me on this - after 3 babies in 8 years I have experienced this reality!)
8. repeat process - try it all on and make some decisions. Do not feel guilted into keeping everything! Tailors if it needs repair or alterations. Cleaners if it needs cleaning. Storage for bulky off season pieces. ALWAYS STORE ONLY CLEAN ITEMS! Donate - feel good about this! Someone else will treasure this piece. And of course KEEP. Most of your pieces will certainly fall into this section. Oh is the phone ringing? IGNORE IT! You're almost done! Don't forget the undies drawer!
9. Get some clear recycle bags to put your donate items in. Maybe a shopping bag for the cleaners? Do NOT mix these up -hehe! Put on your shoes and carry them out to your car - yes - right now!
10. Now before you put all those keepers away consider this trick: Hang everything "backwards" or reverse you hangers. Leave them this way UNTIL they are worn. Then place them back in your normal way. This will make it very easy to SEE what is never worn as the hangers will be facing differently. Next years' job is already easier!

Spring - from Paris with Love
